Thumb sucking?!?!?!?

Good morning 💗
Athena sucks her thumb! 😳
She started a couple of days ago. Refuses a pacifier. She's teething and looking for comfort. Last night she actually put herself to sleep by sucking her thumb.
Has anyone else dealt with this before? She's our 4th kiddo but none of the boys did this. I am not sure if I should try to get her to stop? To take a pacifier? 
Any advice you have I am open!

Sameeeeee. She found her hands a few weeks ago and it’s over. We suck our fingers / thumbs / fist / palm all day. I’ve put her in her crib and she too sucked her thumb to sleep (new one for us). It’s going to be much harder to kick the habit since it’s attached lol

My first baby did this. She started when she was almost 2 months. I let her, didn’t get her to stop because it was how she self soothed & she hated pacifiers (and bottles for that matter). I figured I don’t see any of my HS students sucking their thumbs so she’ll stop eventually. I let her be and didn’t interfere -EVERYONE of course commented on it asking me why was letting her suck her thumb. Eventually she stopped! I don’t know when exactly bc I stopped worrying about it, but by the time she was 6 months I noticed she never sucked her thumb anymore.

My son is a big thumb sucker but only when he doesn’t have his pacifier. My daughter was the same. She quit sucking her thumb on her own. Hoping he also quits on his own.
