Anyone else experience this?

Question

Did anyone else have trouble controlling their glucose levels? I’m on 5 shots of insulin a day + gestational diabetes diet and I’m still getting high readings. I’m just feeling so defeated. 
Side note: I’m 28 weeks pregnant

I hate when this happens - I'm a type 2 diabetic, so I've been battling insulin resistance since I hit the second trimester. 
Drink a ton of water and go for a walk (or some kind of exercise) to help get the number down. This will help get you down a bit. 
You'll want to talk to whoever manages your insulin about options for when you get highs like these I'm on an adjustment scale. You have to be careful as too much insulin can drop you if you aren't careful. 
You might also want to diary what foods you are eating that give you these highs. I have trigger foods that just make it worse - rice, pretzels, any breakfast cereals (my last pregnancy it was pizza crust that just did me in).
I know for me, this pregnancy I had to cut my carbs majorly. At 36 weeks, I'm at a 1:1 carb ratio for most meals for my fast acting...it kind of stinks lol, plus a long lasting insulin morning and night to help balance between meals.
I am not a doctor by any means, just speaking from experience. I hate this little machine lol it's the bane of my existence sometimes lol.

Can you share some typical things you are eating? If you do eat carbs, multigrain is best! Also, if fasting blood sugar is an issue I have found that having a small "snack" before bed helps keep it from getting so high in the morning. Too much time between meals without a snack can also make your sugar levels worse. Your liver will start sending glycogen through your blood stream if it is worried your sugar levels are too low or you're "hungry". I had GD for my first, diet controlled, my second I had a small amount of insulin, this one so far has been okay. Crazy because first two were boys and this one is a girl.

How long after eating was it this high? That is scary! Di you have a diabetes provider that helps you manage it? I see someone every two weeks.

Sorry you are going through this. I had GD with my first pregnancy but it was diet controlled. I know that when I exercised my numbers drastically dropped. Try maybe working out, like treadmill or elliptical.
