I am not a children person and never know what to give him for occasions that require gifts. He’s going to be 2 soon and I’m thinking of just opening a savings account for him and depositing money in there for birthdays and what not.

Is this appropriate? Should I ask my best friend (his mom)? I know people are particular about their kids (rightfully so) and I also don’t want to offend. Thinking I can put it in his name and have him get access to it at 18 or 25.
