Crib Bumpers

Do crib bumpers really pose a risk to babies that are able to roll and scooch around?

We are trying to transition our 5 1/2 month old from her bassinet to her crib.

Regardless of where she is placed, she immediately rolls to her stomach now and pushes herself into the corner of the bed.

In the bassinet, that means she’s pushing herself into the fabric side. In the crib, it means she’s rolling and pushing her head into the wood and frequently getting her arms and legs stuck in between the slats.

We’ve done three nights so far of starting her in the crib (we tried to start with naps, but she will not fall asleep in crib for those). I saw another person and read an article that said it’s easier to start with the first portion of the night in the crib because that’s when babies are the most tired.

The first night, she did pretty well! She fell asleep for a few hours, woke up, I fed her and put her back in. The second two nights though, she wouldn’t sleep for more than a half hour (if she was really even sleeping) and then it was screaming—we think because she’s hurting her head and getting her limbs stuck.

Idk how to make the crib more comforting for her though. It’s big and wooden. Her bassinet is cozy and fabric.

Any suggestions?
