Twins or triplets???

Question

Went in for my first appointment today. I’m 6w1d and my doctor saw 3 separate sacs. She saw 2 babies (they were doing great and had a heartbeat but she couldn’t pick it up since they are so little) but in one of the sacs she wasn’t able to see a baby. She said there could be a baby in there or it could be just liquid. Has anybody ever gone through this? 
Also, she is sending me to radiology to have a better more detailed ultrasound.

Something similar to this happened to my SIL. Her first scan had 3 sacs. 1 big and 2 smaller. They didn’t see much of anything in them at first and a week later on a recheck, the bigger one had developed and the other 2 were shrinking. They called it vanishing triplets. She ended up having 1 baby. Twins do run heavily in her family.

This is a far away picture so you can only see the sacs and not the babies, but the bigger sacs are the ones where the babies were.
