Has anyone Purposely tried

Taking birth control for a few months then stop to see if you can get pregnant? I have never heard of that before then a few of my friends told me to try it because they all got pregnant from trying that. They all have been trying for anywhere from 2 - 4 years, (I’ve never been on birth control because of the weight gain we always used condoms) but since we have been trying to start our family for about 5 years now we haven’t been using anything we went to doctor’s but they all say IVF because of my husband health VERY LOW count! They want 10,000 just to get in the door for IVF, so what are the ones you ladies have tried? Thanks in advance
