Friends?

Question

How do people become friends with random strangers? Like if you go to a grocery store all the time and somehow end up being friends with the manager or something. What happens in between that to end up being friends? I never understood how people made friends with strangers like that. I only ever made friends with people at school or work.

It started out with me always purposely being super nice and polite to cashier's/ect because I know customers can be super shitty sometimes 
Then I got on my anxiety medication, which helped with my social anxiety a ton too, so then I enjoyed chatting with everyone 
And eventually, when you see someone 2/3 times a week, and have a full conversation each time, you get to know them 
And then you see them elsewhere in life, and wave and do the whole 'funny to see you here too!' bit conversation 
And idk, you just get to know each other. Turns out you like the same things and viola, friends

My man is so like this. All the old ladies everywhere we go say “ohh hi baby” and me if I know a worker from a store I’m the type that’s in my head like don’t say hi pls bc I feel like I’m so awkward with small talk 😓

I think it comes down to personalities. Some people are just able to talk to anyone and make friends easily.

I became friends with our waitress at a restaurant we would always eat at. She would always come talk to my parents and I and her and I had a lot in common. So we became friends that way.
