HPV anyone ?

I went in for my Pap smear few days ago and tested positive for hpv. I’m terrified I don’t know much about it. If anyone else is suffering from hpv please help 😭 I’m waiting on my doc to call me and see if I need more exams or treatment. Should I go test somewhere else could it be a false positive ?! 😩

HPV is incredibly common. The CDC estimates that nearly all sexually actively adults will contract it at some point in their lives. Most bodies clear the infection in their own. Often times a doctor will recommend a follow-up pap smear in a year to see if you still have the infection. The doctor will let you know if there’s and dysplasia, and if it needs treatment. My infection went undetected for quite some time (get your regular PAP’s, ladies) so I had severe dysplasia. I had the LEEP procedure performed in the doctors office. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. My baby was sleeping in the corner and my husband was holding my hand. Recovery was easy, the only real sign that anything was done was discharge that looked like coffee grounds. A follow-up pap at a year showed that the HPV infection had cleared from my body and that I has healed just fine from the procedure. 
I was pregnant when I found out I had HPV, and am pregnant again now. The procedure didn’t affect my fertility or compromise my cervix at all. 
Please don’t panic about this, it’s very common, easily treated, and usually symptomless. I don’t see a need for a second opinion. Just follow your doctors guidance.

HPV is very common. Often it clears up on its own. Sometimes they need to burn off the infected cells. If you smoke quit now that only makes it worse. I think like 80 percent of the population gets it. They may ask for a follow up type of exam where they check for infected cells. Also ask you doctor about the vaccine.

It’s extremely common and most people will have it (knowingly or not) in their lifetime. I had it at my first pap over a year ago. They just asked me to come back in a years time to repeat the smear test. By 12 months my body had gotten rid of it and I tested negative.
They will just test the cells, and will let you know if they are cancerous or not (hopefully not, most of the time they aren’t 💗) and then most likely ask you to come back in 12 months. It’ll be ok. My nurse advised not to google it too much because it’ll keep coming up as an STI but she said it really isn’t anything like that as it’s just so common.
