Tantrums

So my almost 8 month old (on Sunday!🤗🤗🤗) has been throwing some pretty big fits when he doesn't get his way. Like he'll be fine, well be playing or something and he will see something like the Xbox controller and will scream if he can't have it and roll into an inconsolable cry. If I give in, I feel like im just setting him up for failure, but I don't even think babies really understand no at this point...right? I guess how do I handle these tantrums? Right now I've just been taking him and doing something else...like well move to another room and I try to distract him and he gets over it.
