How does insurance works for ttc consultations?

So aunt flow came today, bummer. We've been trying to conceive for a few years, and we never really consulted a doctor. We just migrated in the states and got our insurance 6 months ago. Does insurance company covers consultations and work ups for couples who are trying to conceive?

Really depends on your insurance- you’ll have to look at your plan details or call them if you’re not sure. Mine covered consultation and diagnostics but not treatment. So - the work up/labs/HSG/diagnostic ultrasound were covered, but not IUIs/IVF or fertility meds.

Call your insurance. My old insurance, I was able to make an appt with an in network re. My current insurance, I needed a referral from my pcp
