Have you been checked to see if you’re dilated yet?

How far along are you if so? I’m 36 weeks today and haven’t been checked yet. I get my GBS swab on Monday though so wondering if they’re going to then?

During my first pregnancy they checked at 36 weeks and I was dilated to 4cm. I remained at 4cm until 40weeks 4 days and 12 hours of labor with my water broke. Thus time my doctor asked if I was interested in getting it checked and said no what's the point. He agreed. You could be at 0 cm and go into labor in hours or be dilated to 4cm like I was and still wait 4.5 weeks.

I requested no checks and my doctor was cool about it. She agrees that the information isn’t particularly helpful unless there are signs of a problem or other signs of labor. 
Sounds like some doctors have a set schedule like start at 37 or 38 weeks (and you can always decline) 
Other doctors wait till you ask or they see a definitive medical need. 
Either way not a problem that your doctor hasn’t yet and maybe know your preference before the GBS test so you can let them know.

I was checked at 36 weeks, no dilation. Not surprised, as I didnt dilate with my son until labor. I asked not to be checked again and my doc said that's fine!

They told me they don’t normally start until 38 weeks but I asked them to check at 36 weeks because I’d been contracting throughout the week. But it’s not always all that helpful information I just personally was curious if anything was happening because my last baby came at 36+5.

Mine is doing a check at 36 week appointment with my GBS test. Mostly to confirm that baby is still head down. That she feels when she checks fundal hight.

It depends on your doctor’s policy, but I had mine checked for the first time at my 36 week appointment right after the GBS swab.

I was checked at 32 weeks because I was contesting and they had to remove my cerclage at the time because I was 2.5 dilated and fully effaced and the stitch was pulling my cervix. I am now 35 weeks and haven’t been checked anymore. I do go Tuesday for my 36 week appointment and I’ll be checked then and get my gbs swab as well.

I was checked at 34 weeks as I have been having cramping since 28 weeks. I was dilated to a 1. They were originally planning on GBS testing, ultrasound and a cervix check at 36 weeks which would have been the first time they checked.
