I packed my son's lunch for 17 years
I've had a lot of moms shut on me for packing my son's lunch in his teens years. They said he was too old. I liked doing it. I always wrote a note on his lunch bag. I don't see anything wrong with packing my son's lunch. Hes heading off to college next year so I'm sure he knows how to pack his own lunch. Today his girlfriend told me something in private. She told me that he has kept ever lunch bag with my note on it since he was in the 7th grade and he plans to take them to college. He got diagnosed with severe depression in the 7th grade. He started self harming and went through something very traumatic that scarred him. He's been doing better over the years. But knowing that he kept my silly little lunch notes makes me hope that I helped him get through his trauma, even if it was in a small way.
Thanks for all the positive comments! I think I will send my care packages with a note in them once he leaves for college. I'm really surprised he kept them because the things I wrote weren't even clever. They were pretty dumb. I think one thing I wrote was like "Don't forget to smile sweets! Love Mama!" I honestly thought he found them annoying because most teens would be embarrassed by those notes. 🤣😊
