I know it’s mostly used for girls but I love it for a boy. Would he get made fun of?

Avery was originally a boy name and is now unisex. While it is more common for girls these days, people are still naming their boys Avery as well. I love it and think you should go for it. He will not get made fun of. There will probably be another male Avery in his school. I know several toddler male Avery’s.
