Flying with 10 month old

I have to fly with my 10 month old in two days. Has anyone traveled with an infant before? What can I pack in his diaper bag? Can I fill his bottles with water and take his formula on the plane?

Long distance and frequent traveler here😉my daughter flew with me since 7 months old in 12+ hours in one plane. What worked for her at that age were new snacks, new small toys and cocomelon on my phone. I walked with her a lot and let her crawl when it was safe in the isle. Bring a carrier, it’s a life saver when u have to move around the airport, sometimes they don’t give the stroller back right away and u have to pick it up on baggage claim. In London, it took me 25 minutes to get thru customes and I wouldn’t be able to do it without a carrier. Also, don’t overpack for carry on. Have 2-3 outfits for the baby, zip lock back so u can put dirty clothes in (in case of vomit, u will be so happy to have it) and clean shirt for you. U can have as many bottles u want, put as much as water u need for mixing formula to each bottle, they go thru the scanner. And don’t forget, no matter what “disaster” will happen on a plane, people have kids too and most of a time they offer to help🙂if u have any questions, u can ask me any time. I know how stressed I was before our first trip but now my daughter is a pro🙂

My one piece of advice, invest in a USB bottle warmer and block charger. With COVID not many restaurants will be open and have hot water, or be open to you using their microwave. We were so SO happy we had ours in Frankfurt flying to Montreal because literally nobody was willing to help warm her bottle at the airport.

Get him his own seat so you can bring the car seat with you. It’s so much nicer each having your own space. I only bring my backpack and the seat with me. Stroller gets gate checked, everything else gets checked.Buy water once you’re through security for bottles. It will be way easier than them testing every bottle you pack. Have him a little gingery so he will drink during takeoff to help with ear pressure. Change diaper right before you board so you have less need to change it in flight. I prefer boarding first or at the very end. It sucks boarding with everyone else and having all that pressure to get settled immediately. Probably go first since it sounds like this is your first time flying with him. I always bring a new toy, a few books, some snacks. Once we can take seatbelts off, I let him turn around to watch a show, or you could load an iPad with a few things. The only things in my bag are my wallet/sunglasses/chapstick/water, 1 change of clothes for him, travel diaper thing with 3 diapers and wipes, snacks, bottle, toys, books, iPad if I bring it. Don’t over pack. Make it easy on yourself.I wait until the very end to get off so I can take the time to organize myself and they will have gotten the stroller back to the end of the jetway. Feel free to ask anything else, I flew solo with my guy about 30 times between 8 months and 16 months. We got a good system down :)

I flew with my first when she was 9 months. She was breastfed so not 💯 on the bottles but I know the liquid standards didn’t apply to baby food. So you should be able to fill them ahead of time. All snacks and stuff had to be in clear gallon baggies. I brought a new toy for her and she honestly did great. I got an aisle seat so I could stand up when I needed to. Try not to stress! Everyone was very polite and understanding when we flew. I was so nervous about people being rude bc she was crying or something but that wasn’t the case. Good luck!
