Do you think calling women “females” is degrading?

Do you think calling women “females” is degrading? I don’t mean in a medical or legal type setting, I mean more so in general conversation. I sometimes see posts/videos on social media degrading women and referring to them as “females”, whereas if men are mentioned in the same post they’re simply referred to as “men” and not “males”. Do you think this is disrespectful and degrading?

Just in my experience, when people use « females » outside of literally talking about biology of course, they’re about to say something negative about women. It’s just the only time I’ve personally seen it so yeah it’s often a bit jarring to read. It’s not really the word itself though

Yes, absolutely. Female what??? Especially since it’s used in a degrading way, such as “these females really acting like hoes”

Yes. I’ve never heard anyone say “this female” and then follow it with something positive. Not once. Even on this app, someone will be telling a story about some “female” and 100% of the time they are talking about the person in a negative way. It’s a degrading term when used in certain context.

Isn’t that what we’re called tho. We are females. Or ladies. Or women. Or girls. They’re all different terms that mean the same thing. I use all of them, whatever pops out of my mouth
