Medicine to increase supply?

S

I’ve had such a rough time trying to breastfeed. My son is now 3 weeks old and we’re still trying even though there doesn’t seem to be much hope.

After having my son I waited five days for my milk to come in and still hadn’t felt like it did. I pumped and nothing would come out, I didn’t have heavier breasts or any leaking. Nothing seemed to have changed. I tried all the different teas and cookies and oatmeals I could find but nothing seemed to work. All while I still latched baby every time he was hungry knowing that he was probably not getting anything.

My midwife advised supplementing because of his weight loss and so I did. I would even use the sns system (latching baby to the boob and giving a feeding tube with formula at the same time). After a few more days I was able to squeeze and finally see some drops of milk. However I knew it wasn’t enough to keep baby fed as he would never be satisfied coming off the boob and I wasn’t able to pump anything besides a few drops.

All in all my midwife explained the possible lack of breast tissue that allows lactation to occur. She also suggested trying a medicine called Domperidome which is typically given to people with ulcers but also can help with lactation?

My question here is if anyone has tried using this medicine to help their supply? Any success?
