Anyone induced by breaking water?

My doctor wants to start my induction tomorrow by breaking my water. My first two inductions went really smooth by starting with pitocin. I’m a little nervous to switch it up. Isn’t there a bigger risk of infection once water is broken? This is baby #3 and I’m 2cm

I was induced by breaking my water on February 12th because baby was ten days overdue. Contractions started naturally within 45 minutes and I gave birth to my baby 5 hours later! I had a great experience and appreciated letting my body start contractions gradually rather than pushing it into high gear with drugs like pitocin; it just felt better for me.
This was my second baby, and my first came on his own, so I was new to induction but it worked great. Good luck!

I am also inducing tomorrow and my dr mentioned the same thing. She said because they might could do that instead of pitocin since I’m already dilated, thinned out, etc. they didn’t do it in that order last time so not sure what it will be like!

Both my inductions were started by breaking my waters and then starting pitocin I’m not sure why but they were both quick and smooth. Maybe ask why that is his preference he might feel think might start for you without the need for pitocin?

I went in for cervadil for 12 hours. I went from 1 to 2 cm and then had my waters broken by my OB. Then pitocin was started. Baby was born 10 hours later vaginally with an epidural. Everything went really smoothly for me.

There’s a better chance you’ll end up with a c section.. unless you’re already dilated quite a bit I would not have waters broken.
