WEANING! What did you do to get baby off the breast?

Let's hear all the stories of how you got your baby to stop nursing. For me it's seeming quite impossible

I really just let him wean himself. We eliminated feedings when he no longer asked for them. At a year I think he was nursing 5 times a day. By 15 months he was down to 2, morning and bedtime. My husband would always get him up and bring him to me to nurse. Well, one day he just took him downstairs instead and let me sleep. Our son didn’t seem to mind, and never regularly asked guy a morning feed again. 
At 18 months, my husband and I had rented a little cabin for our anniversary and planned to leave our son with my parents for the first time. I knew this would be easier if he wasn’t nursing. I’d always nursed him in our bed until he fell asleep, then my husband would move him to his crib. One night I just rocked him in the rocking chair in his room and read to him, then laid him down. He was completely fine, didn’t even ask to nurse. The next morning, we had one last sweet nursing session in our bed. He was happy and smiley and snuggly. Then he was done, he never asked again. 
I always thought I’d do a year and be done, but I’m so happy that I let it happen naturally. There was no crying or begging to be nursed. I had a couple of days where my breasts felt a bit fuller, but no pain or engorgement. It ended up being a really nice experience. I hope it goes as smoothly with our daughter.

I have gone on a weekend get away once we decided to be done and had dad deal with it. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ works for us. My babies weren’t bothered since I wasn’t there.

Put a black face mask on my nipples and that was that. She wanted to keep checking if it was still on there but didn’t want nothing to do with it. 😂

At about a year, we had only been nursing at breakfast, nap, and bedtime. I cut out the nap first by creating a new routine. Read a few books, then turn on sound machine and turn off lights. I then held him on his chair for a few minutes, then set him in his crib. 
I did just breakfast and bedtime nursings for about a month. I then cut out the breakfast boob.  I just offered more food after i changed his diaper. About a month later i stopped giving the bedtime boob (see routine above).  
My son was about 14 months when i completely stopped. He only fussed 1 night!  After that it was smooth weaning. 
I think you have to make up your mind and stay consistent.
