Day 25: Okay okay i admit it im lazy if there's an option to take an elevator i would take the elevator. I don't like stairs taking the elevator is so much easier. Well i have Alexander Miles to thank for my laziness i mean for elevators. Alexander Miles was born in pickaway County on May 18,1838 to Michael and Mary Miles. He moved to Wisconsin where he became a barber and met his wife in 1870 and together they had a daughter in 1876. It is believed that his idea of a better elevator came from a time where him and his daughter rode on a elevator and he noticed the elevator shaft door left ajar and people started getting falling down the shaft. So he came up with the idea for having automatic open and closing doors so that way people won't forget to close and open the door. He received a patent for his invention on October 11,1887. Today we have elevators with automatic doors thanks to mr. Alexander Miles
