using a tampon for the first time?

so I have always been nervous about using a tampon. I tried using one a while ago but couldn’t get it in right. I tried again today and i think i got it in correctly, but it feels a little weird. is that normal for your first time or did i put it in wrong? i am pretty sensitive to touch in general so it could just be me overreacting but i would appreciate your input :)

So, here is a story about my terrible sex education. 
I didn’t learn until I was 17 years old that there is an applicator on the tampon! So you push the applicator until the actual tampon is released inside of you. I hated tampons because I always thought they were uncomfortable. They pinched me, because I was inserting them WITH the applicator still attached and just leaving it there 😂 I never used them. 
Needless to say I felt like an idiot at 17 when I realized that I had been doing it wrong the entire time. Now I only use tampons 😂

You have to relax and try swatting to put it in. If placed correctly, you are not supposed to feel it. If not, you need to push it up higher. 
Which kind did you buy? The ones with the applicator are easier since it helps push it where it needs to be. 
Definately normal until you get used to it and learn. You may need to try out multiple brands to find the one that are most comfortable. I like Cora, Rael and The Honey Pot. 
Some tips:
- Wear the right tampon for your flow. It says on the box which one is for which. But always start with the lowest absorption first until you know what works. And you can wear a pad or liner underneath.  
Super Plus: extra heavy
Super: heavy flow
Regular: medium to heavy
Light: light days
So if you are not sure; start with regular.  If thats not right, try super or if you are very light, go with light. 
- Change tampons every 3-4 hours and dont forget to cut the string to desired. Sometimes its too long. 
- Dont sleep in your tampon. Maximum wear is 8 hours and if you go over, you increase risk for infection. If you do however, put your alarm on to wake you to change it in 8 hours time. 
- Read signs and symptoms of toxic shock syndrome. This is the greatest risk of wearing tampons.

you shouldnt feel it. did you put the entire top of the applicator, up to the grip or where you hold it, in? you put the whole top in until you reach the grip part of the applicator. im saying this bc my first time i did not know this and a friend had to show me how to do it

It may be at a slightly bad angle. I usually insert mine standing up because it’s the best way for me to get it in properly lol. Just keep practicing and you’ll find what works for you.
