On and off blue mouth?

For today my 6 month olds mouth is randomly turning blue. It goes away and then comes back later. We have a dr appt today to talk about it. Why would this be happening? Has anyone experienced this? Thank you!

My first thought is it has something to do with oxygen. Are there any other symptoms?

The hospital told me it was normal it could be from them sucking on their lips

Blue color is a sign of low oxygen levels in the blood. It starts to become noticeable around the mouth and fingernails first. This could be an indication that your child is struggling to breath, check for other indications of breathing trouble like wheezing, grunting, nostril flaring or the chest getting pulled in beyond the rib cage during breaths. I’m not trying to scare anyone as this is an early sign, but check for other signs and seek help. Could baby’s airway be being impeded? Google positional asphyxiation for more info.
