My worst labor experience
2/15/21 - My water broke around 9:40am Monday. Got to the hospital at 11am-ish. Got started on induction iv. Got to a 4cm at 6pm and got the epidural. When I got the epidural she poked me twice and did some fishing around. After the epidural I had uncontrollable shakes. Everything was numb for maybe a good 40 minutes, then i started to feel things on my right side. Got to 5cm at 8ish. They was having a hard time keeping his heart beat on the monitor, so they kept flipping me which ended up dislodging my epidural. They ended up putting a monitor up in me that was connected to him to monitor the contractions and his heart beat better. They had to put fluid back up in my urtus. They used a tube thing, hanging from an iv bag. I told them that I could feel everything and the nurse didn't believe me till she had me flip on my hands and knees. They tried to get me numb again and all I could feel was clicking in my back. Then I said I felt like I had to push so they checked me again and I was ready to go. Literally went from a 5cm to a 10cm in like 30mins. Started pushing, but the further he got down in the canal his heart rate dropped more (cord was around his neck and the further he came down the tighter it got), then just started plunging. They ran me out of the room, and took me for an emergency c section. When we got to the operation room, my body was still trying to push. Someone was at the end of me pushing the baby back up the canal. While that was happening I heard a man yell, "let's move people, we lost him, we don't have time for that, put her under, breathing tube, move-move-move" then a man standing over me who said, "your about to not feel anything in - 5, 4, 3" then I was completely out. I woke up, really groggy and just not with it. My throat hurt so bad and I couldn't talk.
We got moved to the baby and mother side. I was having issues with my breathing stopping and blood pressure dropping. So they put me on oxygen. From there everything was a normal process. I ended up having to leave the hospital just over 24 hours after my c section due to babysitting issues. I was able to get up, walk, pass gas, everything was fine with no pain medication. Just before we got ready to be discharged the doctor came in and went over everything with me, and that's when I was informed I had to be opened up twice. During the c section they nicked my urethra, and when they stitched it, they closed it. They seen I wasn't pushing any urine into the catheter bag so they did an ultrasound on me and seen that it was closed. So, they had to open me back up and fix that situation.
