C-section vs. natural birth

I had a scheduled c-section with my first due to her being breech. I was really nervous about the c-section itself, but not so much the recovery. I never went into labor and fortunately had an easy recovery. I was up and moving the same day. Of course there was discomfort/pain and I had to take things slowly, but over all I felt fortunate.

I am hoping to have a successful VBAC with my second, but I am so much more nervous about labor/recovery than I thought I would be. I am really worried about tearing.

If you have experienced both, which recovery would you say was easier? If you could choose which would you have again?
