20 month old started Stuttering

This week my LO prefers to be held instead of walking as she loves to be independent. On top of that she has started to stutter her words. Could this be a phase or just something she's picked up? Some relatives ask her for example, "who did you see today? P-Peter?" and lately she says then "B-b-bird" should I tell others to stop doing that and instead say the whole word?
