How many DPO “should” you get a faint positive by if you’re actually pregnant?

Implantation can be anywhere from 5dpo to 15dpo. And then how fast your hcg doubles is genetic. It should double every 48hrs but it doesn't always. And remember, double of 1 is 2. Double of 2 is 4. It takes quite a few days to reach a positive test, the best are 10hcg sensitive, but many are even 25hcg sensitive! (Cheaper ones). 
If person  A implants at 5dpo and her hcg doubles or triples, she could have a faint positive by even 8dpo or 10dpo. 
Person B might not even impant until 14dpo, and need another week to get hcg up and running, so 21dpo isn't unheard of. 
My last pregnancy i had blood work at 8dpo and my hcg was ZERO. At 15dpo i had a faint positive and at 17dpo my hcg was only 35.

You can get a positive pregnancy test as early as 8 dpo but may not receive a positive test till 14+ dpo. Implantation occurs 6-12 dpo and it takes hcg 2-3 days to double and would need to double enough to show on an at home pregnancy test, so sensitivity of test would also play a role.
