A few weeks ago I got engaged to my best friend! 5 years ago I was barely turning 16 and he was almost 19, and he was my very first serious relationship. Since then we have grown together and built a beautiful relationship! I cannot brag about him enough; he is seriously the most perfect guy I could ever dream of. He is sweet, sensitive, honest, caring, loving, and strong enough to take care of us. I never question his love for me, because he has spent 5 years proving to me every single day that he loves me unconditionally and thinks I am the most amazing girl in the world! I don’t know how I got so lucky to trust my 16 year old heart to a young boy who grew into the amazing 24 year old man that I will be marrying in August on our 6th anniversary! This is a post to give hope to all those girls out there that wonder if there are still good guys out there. This guy, 5 years later, still makes my heart beat out of my chest and gives me butterflies with his romantic gestures. He is amazing and I honestly still can’t believe that I got so incredibly lucky to have found him so early in life!

I also would like to acknowledge the hard work he put in over the past 5 years. He moved here to Minnesota on his own from Texas when he was 18 and he had no job, no car, and no home. He found a couch to sleep on, got a job as a retail salesman, and put himself through college. He just graduated and got his first job as an architect and has his own place! We will be signing a lease together in April and starting our lives together! I am so incredibly proud of him for overcoming all of the obstacles that were thrown at him over the years. He is a hard worker and I can’t express how much joy I feel now that he is going to see the benefits of his hard work!
