Has anyone changed their career path to fit their family?

Question

I know some are just dead set on doing a certain thing but have you changed it after you've had children?

I was going to go a more demanding route in the same career field. However, I got pregnant before competitively qualified, then covid came and that but a 100% halt on the route I wanted to go. 
I love the flexibility of the career I’m in now. So I think I’m going to stay until I have a second kid at least a year old then switch. 
So yes it changed mine some but I’m enjoying the time with my baby and the flexibility while still working part time.

I'm trying to become an author so I can stay at home and care for my son and the possible future children we plan to have.

Yeah. The career I was in was often inconsistent work and when I had it, it was 12-20 hour work days. I needed something more consistent and with more family friendly hours. 
The downside: big pay cut and I struggle with self-esteem because it’s not what my degree is in. We probably break even with daycare and my student loan costs, but neither me or my daughter are stay-at-home people so this is what works for now.

Not so much the path but my career pace changed drastically after having babies. I was very career minded prior but now I just work to justify the 200k in student loans I have. I’ll definitely take a break once they are paid off.

Yes. The job I was getting into required me to work shifts and a lot of overtime.... but it was a dream job either way.
Since having kids I had to change my path a bit. The job I do now is very flexible and my hours work around my kids school/kindergarten/daycare schedules.

Yes. I’d always intended to be a working mom. I worked in a field that I loved and found meaningful, and worked hard to get where I was. However, the pandemic made it really hard to keep working. I worked from home with my son for 9 months and just could not keep up with anything and knew he wasn’t getting the attention he deserved. Then we found out we were pregnant again, and something had to give. My husband and I decided that me quitting my job was the right choice for us. Our sons language has developed so much now that I’m able to give him the attention he deserves, so I know it was the right choice. Still feels strange, though since this wasn’t ever our plan. Thank goodness my husband has a good job, so financially me quitting isn’t a burden.

I considered (am still considering) going back to school to move to a higher paying job within my field to better support my family. Some days I think “yes! I should do this. I would be good at it” and other days I think “no, I would miss the day to day of my job too much.” We’ll find out in a couple months if my husband will get a massive raise. That will impact my decision (and possibly we may be looking for new employment because my husband is ridiculously underpaid).

In a way. I’m employed again instead of selfemployed and chose a job near my home at which I could work 4 days a week and have (relatively) ‘normal’ hours, plus with a flexible mindset so that I’m able to drop off/pick up my lo. The job itself (the level and contents as well as the salary) is not very different from what I did before though.

I've had a few pregnancy scares and have had friends get pregnant while I worked in my previous field and it just was not a suitable place for pregnant women so one of my old co-worker left and got an easy office job after and since I'm constantly in the boat where I may or may not be pregnant my plan is to leave my current job for at least a year. Not everyone is able to do this though unfortunately due to finances or whatever the reason which is unfortunate if you want to spend that time with your babies. My sister in law left her well paying job when she got pregnant and hasn't worked in almost 5 years now and eventually had to move in with the grandparents. My cousin in law put everything on a halt for her children but it's so hard they had to move back with her parents. I've seen more woman quit their careers when expecting more than I have seen women stay or just take maturity leave.
