Has anyone had the prenatal visit yet?

I had my urine checked and they’re saying I have gbs and need to start antibiotics for 7 days but they’re not going to retest again after so I’m just confused. I don’t have an ultrasound till later this month and I’m nervous to take antibiotics during pregnancy. Anyone else been through something like this?

I’ve absolutely never heard of anyone having to be tested or take antibiotics for GBS in early pregnancy. It’s normally tested for close to term because if positive you need antibiotics during labor so the bacteria isn’t passed to baby in the birth canal and cause problems with baby. It’s just a vaginal bacteria that’s otherwise harmless. I would 100% get another opinion and personally I wouldn’t take the antibiotics. I would find a new provider.

It happens more than you think. Every woman should have a mid stream urine check with first appointment. I’m sorry yours picked up GBS
The antibiotics are very safe and I would take them - as the risk of subsequently passing on GBS to your baby could be catastrophic (sorry for the harsh truth)
