Dumb question, but what does this mean? One line is darker than the other. Am I pregnant?

It doesn’t matter how dark or light the lines are. You have two lines, you’re pregnant.

The first line is your test line, the second line is your control line.  The control line should always be there, but the test line isn't there unless you are pregnant.  It gets darker as it detect more hcg (pregnancy hormone) in your urine.  Because you are so far along (usually 5-6 weeks is when it first starts), it needs to "steal" dye from the control line in order to accommodate the higher hcg levels.  It's called a "dye stealer, and you are pregnant.  Congrats.

Not dumb, the line gets darker depending on "how pregnant" you are, its supposed to read a hormone that the baby produces at at certain age (can't remember what its called) as the baby grows it produces more of the hormone. With my 1st baby I was young and in major denial, I was probably around 2.5 months when I took my 1st test and the 1st line was so dark you could barely see the 2nd one. I had no idea what that meant so I thought it was just a faulty test, waited, kept gaining weight (no bump) finally @25 weeks (approx. 5.5 months) I had an ultrasound to see if I had uterine cysts and there was my very formed son waving at me. The doctor very nonchalantly said congrats your giving birth in 4 months. It was horrifying then, but now I just think it's funny.
