Should I be worried?

For a week now, when he gets angry/frustrated, he hits his head. He will smack and bang his head repeatedly and sorta spaces out while doing it. Yesterday he worried me even more because when my nail client said hi to him, he ran to my husbands huge toolbox and banged his head repeatedly on it!!! Then, at bedtime he was so angry about having to go to sleep that he kept bitting and hitting himself. Is this a normal thing at this age??? Something else??? HELLLLPPP

Ellie does this too. I teach kids with autism so, of course, I freak out about it. Her dr said it’s so normal and she’s just v frustrated we can’t understand her/she doesn’t Have the language to express what she needs. 
It should pass! Just make sure he is away from sharp things and try to pad the back of his head when he does it. That’s what we do for her so she isn’t banging on the floor, it’s my hand

Ev does it sometimes when he gets frustrated, he just slaps his cheeks. But my daughter was worse, she used to literally bang her head on the floor 😳 it’s definitely normal, maybe just trying to calmly talk him through his frustration might help. Kids are weird 😅

Elyse does this sometimes. But she went through a phase of smacking her head every single time I told her no. I remember I was worried!

I think it's normal. Ivys been doing it for a while 😓 I really don't like it. She will literally headbutt anything that frustrates her.

Jaxson has been doing the same. If he gets mad he throws his head down wherever he is and that makes him even more upset because he hurts himself. We were at lunch the other day and he got mad that he couldn't have my drink and threw his head down on the table and hurt himself. He gets mad when I take too long to get him food and starts banging his head against the back of his highchair 🙄 Boys man. He's already had stitches in his lip and I'm terrified he's going to hurt himself!

Yes!! Jesse does this too. He will smack himself, hit his head, throw, push things off of the table when he gets mad. I remember on a podcast I listened to it says the first thing that *usually* triggers in boys brains when they are frustrated or mad is a physical response while girls, *usually* is a verbal response. They said it can take boys a bit longer to understand and verbalize their frustration. So we are working on it! I usually am firm with him and tell him no, we don’t throw/hit etc! Then I tell him it’s okay and I give him a minute.
