Should I pay more 😭for freezing extra blastocysts?

Question

My package includes only one month freezing for two blastocysts, this cycle. Today my Dr called me to her place n said that we have produced more than 8 blastocysts. And if we want to freeze them all we have to pay more.

I m 34 and a mom of 6 yr old. I can't decide wt to do I m paying out of pocket 😭😭for the treatment. Also I have a unicornuate uterus.

I would 100% pay to keep them all frozen until you are sure your family is complete.  The cost of ivf is sooo much more than the cost of storage, so if you only freeze 2 for a month and they don’t take, you have to start all over again.  Also if they do take are you sure your family is complete? Or will you possibly want a third child in the future, and then again have to go through the process of ivf.  I am honestly a bit shocked that the package is only storing 2 for 1 month.  Seems insane.  My package included a year of storage, and now I pay 1k a year to keep my embryo frozen.  To me the 1k a year is so worth it to know I have the option of another child.

It may take multiple transfers to work, definitely recommend freezing all.

Yes, with that many you have a high chance of finishing your reproductive family without doing another retrieval, but I wouldn’t say the same with only a couple. Stop storing when you are 100% sure you’re done. Definitely worth the (relatively) nominal cost of storage.

I pay $45 a month to keep mine frozen. We used 3 before getting my 8 month old and it’s nice m owing we still have 4 more left.
