How much to send for baby at daycare ?

How much does your breastfed baby eat during the day if they go to daycare from 8-5? I’m about to go back to work and I think I’ll send 12 ounces but I’m not sure how much he eats. Hes 3.5 months.

With breastmilk it's 1-1,5 Oz pr hour and max 4oz at the time. Be sure they are pace feeding!

I would send twice as much just in case but I’m an over planner. Can they store any extra there?

1-1.5/hour that he's there or in between feeds at breast if you have a longer commute, so 9-13.5oz for your hours. This total amount stays the same no matter the age, the amounts in however many bottles will change though. I was gone the same amount of time and we began with 5-2oz bottles at 12wks and ended with 2-5oz bottles at 13m. I always sent an extra bottle   to reach that 13.5 max but he only took it for a week during the 4m growth spurt. 
Make sure that they understand what pace feeding is to avoid overfeeding. Breastmilk and formula are nutritionally different and can't be treated the same. Your body ups the calorie count in the same volume, but for formula you have to up the volume to reach the calories needed.

Better to send too much than not enough. I know where I work, we have a freezer so parents can leave extra breast milk just in case, and we will thaw if baby runs out. You can check with your daycare and see if that’s an option.

My little girl just started full time but she's 8 months. I send her with enough for a week. They let me know when she's running low. I was ready to send half my stock lol but they didn't have room in their freezer for it lol. It seems like she drinks less there because she get babyfood twice a day. where when she was home with her dad she got it maybe once in the evening. Not sure if your is old enough for baby food yet but most daycare should follow the fda guidelines for baby nutrition

Even though it used a lot of bags I would put no more than 4 ounces in a bag.  Some bags had 1.5 some 2 ounces some 3.  That way they would not have to thaw out too much milk and waste it.  If they needed a little more they could thaw a bag with les milk in it.  I always labeled each bag with the amount of ounces it contained so they could pick which bag they needed.

My goal was always to leave 16oz. Sometimes I would get four ounces back sometimes none.
