Can I ask why you're using ovulation tests after ovulation? Digital pick up other hormones like estrogen. So getting a high reading before a period is possible because of the surge of estrogen that happens to bring your period on. Don't take ovulation tests after ovulation as it will only confuse you more.

I wish I knew! I had my solid smiley 11dpo which stayed on for 48 hours then tested for 2 days after that and it was just a blank circle then ever since then it’s been a flashing smiley and I’m now CD21
They say not to test after solid smiley but as it was my very first day testing I was a bit sceptical however the BBT chart seems to agree with it. 
I have read that it’s common to have another surge in estrogen during the two week wait so I’m guessing this is what is causing the flashing smileys?
