Purées?

Are you guys making your babies purées or buying them? I have been making them for a about 3 weeks & it’s not going so well but I am freaked out about metals in the baby food. 😩

Buying them. Same metals are found in food you make and I’m too busy and too lazy to make baby food. Plus the jars are inexpensive.

The metal is often coming from the soil that the food is grown in because back in the day heavy metals were used as pesticides. It could be on fresh produce purchased in stores and we just don’t know. We do a combination of homemade and store bought. Some produce is hard to come by in the winter (or summer actually). I make sweet potato and carrot purées and then I buy other purées to mix in for dinner. We’re getting ready to move away from stage 2 purées to stage 3 little bites.

I make them in batches and freeze them in icecube trays, that way I can mix and match things as I like. I also have a small stash of store bought ones in case I have forgotten to defrost or we are out. Soon I will just give him what we have eaten for dinner blended up

I buy them! I don’t have time to make it all, then clean up the mess from making it all, etc. I’m probably just lazy too haha but we like the Beechnut jars the best. They are just single ingredients, nothing extra in them! Sweet potato and carrots we just eat in moderation due to the potential high levels of metals. We also give her other foods too. She loves chewing on cucumber sticks when she is teething, broccoli steamed really well has been a hit, and the Dr. Praeger little bites I think they are called. Oh and toast cut into strips with a purée spread on top.
