Can debt collectors take your tax refund you get for your child dependents?

I had a car and it was repossessed due to me being able to pay while I was on maternity leave and my maternity leave wasn’t paid. I got a letter stating they were asking a judge to garnish my taxes. My question is can they touch the money I get for my child dependent from my taxes?

i’m pretty sure it’s harder for them to just “take your money” and i thought they weren’t allowed to take stimulus but i read part of an article yesterday that stated if you owe money to debt collectors or child support, the amount you receive can be affected. so i think the short answer is yes but don’t know specifics
