First Brazilian wax—-advice??

Hi all
I’m getting my first Brazilian wax (first wax down there at all!) next week—any advice?? A little nervous but shaving irritates my skin too much and depilatories (NAIR/VEET) always give me rashes. Any tips would be appreciated!!!

Shower right before your appointment, don't pee until after you get it done (no crazy science behind this, it's just the polite thing to do). Maybe take a pain killer 20 minutes before the appointment if you have really low pain tolerance. Wear ugly (clean) underwear you don't mind ruining, because trust me that wax ruins everything, no matter how much they clean you up afterwards (oil, powder whatever), little bits of wax are hiding and ready to stick on your underwear for good. So just keep that in mind. Maybe wear a nice pair when coming in, but have the ugly pair in your purse for after. 
I personally prefer hot wax (also known as hard wax or no strip wax) - the kind that they melt, apply in a thick coat and remove using only their hands, no fabric strips. The cold wax (also known as warm) is the kind they apply in a thin layer and then some strips and they pull out the strips of fabric. Cold hurts a lot more. So if you can go for the hot version do that instead for sure. 
If it's your first time getting a wax, have them test it out on your leg or hand to see how your skin will react. Wait 5 minutes, if you're good - go for it, but if you have a bad reaction or an allergy at least you've tried on a safer place first and it's easier to treat it.

I didn’t wear underwear after mine, just sweats. Also, the lips were THE MOST painful thing. I thought she ripped them off of me. The butt strip didn’t even hurt at all.

Bikini zone medicated gel afterwards!! It is a MUST!! I broke out terribly after my first brazilian wax but the results otherwise were wonderful. I tried it again and used the bikini zone gel and it was a million times better and helps with any irritation too. Also, the only part that actually hurts is the two strips at the top of the lips. Other than that it’s way less painful than I thought. I also agree that the butt ones don’t even hurt in the slightest bit.

Trim your pubic hair so it is not too long. Some places offer numbing spray ... i would use it. Also some places will wax your butt with a Brazilian and some won’t. Decide before hand if you want them to do it or not (to me, the butt doesn’t hurt at all). Also be prepared for ingrown hairs.

I've been getting it done every month for years. Try and get your gas out before you go lol. Exfoliate regularly so you don't get ingrowns. You'll get used to the pain the more you get it done. It's not that bad.
