Should I get a lawyer? Or am I overreacting...

Question

So I wanted some opinions if it’s a good idea to get a lawyer... so when my son was nine months who was being breastfeed and eating well and gaining weight the was he was supposed to had his first blood work done at his 9 month check up visit and at the following appointment  when was 12 months,  I had I asked the doctor for his results his words were it’s not inputed in my computer are you sure you even went to get it done I said yes and he said he was going to take a look at that time I was a bit concerned about my sons weight but not to much. So I let it be thinking maybe it wasn’t sent yet...and mind you my son was eating fine and everything to only wanting milk and very very picky with his food I told the doctor telling him the situation about him not wanting to eat well he told me it was normal that within the first year they have very fast growth spurt and sometimes hardly eat but have full energy. So I was going by his word my son did have energy and was well hydrated and being very pick with his food. So now his recent visit to the doctors he’s 18 months currently and was still concerned about his weight and him not wanting to eat well and I once asked him about his first blood work once again he checks his computer and says that’s funny I don’t have anything on here I was like hmm he said we’ll go send him to get the blood work redone and he said ima take a look he stepped out and came back with a paper saying I’m so sorry my nurses where messy about this and didn’t hand me his paper.....I was like well that’s unprofessional...but I would like to know the results and then he comes to tell me that my son has anemia...so I told him so what you telling me is because of your negligence of not trying hard to find it in the first place this whole time my son had anemia since he was 9 months and wasn’t being treated for it...? He told me that he was going to prescribe him some iron supplements and wanted to do another blood work...
So should I sue this doctor for negligence for not trying hard enough to find my sons blood work results and putting my sons health at risk or am I overreacting??

Suing is ridiculous. Save medical negligence law suits for actual medical negligence. 
You could have followed up rather than waiting SIX months. This is your child. You are their advocate. Primary nutrition before one comes from breastmilk of formula. After that you need to provide a well balanced diet for yourself child. 
But seriously, Sue over anemia? 🤣 Any lawyer would laugh.

Theres no basis for a malpractice suit.
1.) No harm was incurred. The child did not suffer and you must show harm.
2.) If it is your claim that harm was done, you have to explain what the harm was and must fo one step farther by showing harm.
3.) By not following up diligently and expressing concern to the medical professional you showed that there was no issue and thus, confirm that there was no harm.
There are people who are sewn up with forceps in their chest cavities that have difficulty getting compensation for injuries. You are going to get nowhere with this. You cant sue for a "poor bookkeeping" system. You should really make it your business to be a bit more attentive to your childs health. You are the ultimate advocate.

Iron levels reach their potential lowest at 9 months because babies are transitioning from complete milk or formula to food. Low iron is not uncommon. 
I’m sorry you had a delay in treatment. I recommend following up on tests more immediately and with more insistence. I have a daughter with a genetic condition and sometimes information will fall through the cracks if I don’t keep track and advocate for her. 
I recommend getting a different pediatrician. It seems the trust is broken here and you need a fresh start. Wishing you and your babe the best!

If I knew I took my child for blood work and I hadn't heard back then I would have pushed for answers. I wouldn't have let three months (from 9 months to 12 months) go by, let alone until my child was 18 months. 
So no, I would not get a lawyer but maybe I'd find another doctor.

Why didn’t you push for the results ?  No, you shouldn’t sue.  You would have to prove that the anemia caused some sort of long term damage in order for anyone to even consider a lawsuit.  Anemia doesn’t cause that unless it’s severe. My son was anemic for the first 6 months of his life even with supplements.  
This type of complaint is one the attorneys I worked for would have laughed about once you left the office.

definitely let him know you are extremely disappointed in the way he was careless for not doing his best in caring for your son, and then find a new dr.

Girl no.. iron isn’t that big of a deal like obviously it is but I’ve always had low iron and literally have never been prescribed medication for it.. I’ve always just been told to take iron supplements and when I don’t take them I’m fine.. 🤷‍♀️ I will say I do get low energy and shortness of breath a lot and sometimes I will almost black out and have fainted sometimes (I also have low blood pressure so some of these might be related to that) but your iron would have to be sooo extremely off for it to cause other extreme issues.. I’m happy your son is getting what he needs now but honestly I’m sure he didn’t have any noticeable problems.. low iron levels don’t have anything to do with appetite kids do just have waves where they eat a ton and then they don’t and then they get picky and so many things could have been happening at that time.. but I’m pretty sure your baby is perfectly fine and it does suck they were sloppy but now you know and can treat him
