Is Pulling Out Necessary?

Hi everyone! I’m stopping NuvaRing due to constant spotting (and I just don’t want to be on hormonal birth control) and I’m interested in starting FAM. I’ve done some research but haven’t been able to determine if my hubby is supposed to pull out on non-fertile days. Can anyone help me out with this? TIA

As long as you chart properly and have figured out the cycles, he does not have to pull out on the non-fertile days. During fertile days, pull-out is not quite 100% safe. FAM recommends that you use either a condom or abstain during your fertile days. At least that is how it was when I learned and used FAM.
No method is 100% safe, but many couples use FAM for years and years without getting pregnant. The secret lies in getting to know and understand your body and cycles, following the rules and chart accurately.

My husband doesn’t pull out on non-fertile days, but I’ve been using FAM for a few years and feel confident about confirming ovulation. Its recommended that until you have a few (at least 3-6) charts under your belt, you stay protected the whole time.

I wouldn’t have him pull out on supposed non-fertile days. There is a very small chance you could get pregnant on those days too. So if you are trying to start a fam, every chance counts. That is just my opinion.
