Experiece with the 3 hour glucose test and fasting??

Question

I didn’t pass my 1 hour glucose test and have to do the 3 hour one now. My biggest worry is the fasting part! 8 hours before the test AND the 3 hours of the test... the lab I go to doesn’t open until 9am so that means I won’t get to eat until after 12. I normally am SO hungry in the mornings this pregnancy and have two rounds of breakfast, a snack and lunch all before 12. I don’t know how I’m not going to pass out or something!! 
Did anybody else do this test? How did that part go for them? Any comments or advice are appreciated! 💕

The last meal you eat make sure it’s low carb/low sugar and packed full of protein. That will help your fasting blood sugar. If your fasting is too high, they won’t even do the test and diagnose you from there. Once they check your fasting you chug the drink and just go sit and wait and get blood drawn every hour on the hour for three hours. My doctors office has rooms with recliners and TVs for testing so I was put in there. I honestly fell asleep in the chair a couple times I was so tired and bored. Definitely bring something to do. The first hour I was pretty nauseous but I did some breathing and it helped keep everything down.

I vomited from.the 3 hour after 1 hr. It was awful. I felt so ill, heart palpitations and such. I refused another test. Following a low carb diet

Thanks for the input everyone! The test ended up going better than I expected. I felt a little nauseous/lightheaded for the first hour but after that was mostly okay. I ended up passing the test with very normal numbers!

I failed my 1 hour glucose but passed my 3 hour with flying colors! It was miserable, make sure you have someone with you to support you if you can. I felt very dizzy and lightheaded by the end of it. While I was waiting I sipped on ice water and walked around a bit which helped me feel better. Good luck!

Yes and I almost past out because as soon as I was finally able to eat I had my sugar levels spoke to high and come down to quickly it was so scary !!!! But I don’t have gd just a lot not to eat then eat right after I hated that test so much !! Good luck mamma

I did the 3 hour test didn’t eat anything from 9pm the night before till 12pm the next day.. the glucose does make u lightheaded but the fasting part wasn’t bad..when I did eat though I started shaking probably from not eating but I was ok didn’t get sick at any point between the draws.. the wait between draws just seemed sooo long

Yes I did; I’m also an early eater so it wasnt fun but if you feel like you’re going to pass out, tell him how you’re feeling! It honestly wasn’t that bad but I had a snack with me to eat as soon as they were finished with the final blood draw.

I felt pretty nauseous at first after drinking the drink, but it improved. I was dreading the fasting as well because I usually have to have breakfast or I feel ill, but it was actually fine! I was able to sip on water, which helped. I chilled in my car between blood draws and the anticipation was much worse than the reality. Good luck!

You’ll be just fine. The glucose will help but make sure you pack snacks/water for right after the test bc I was dizzy after the 3 hours

You won't pass out. You'll be getting over twice the amount of glucose than the 1 hour. Just go to bed late and wake up right before the test. You'll be fine!
