Bruising after IVF Injections??

I just started my IVF injections today and recieved a bruise afterwards. It was Gonal F and Menapur. Is bruising after injecting these types of medications normal? Also, what helps to prevent or stop the bruising?

I had a couple of bruises, literally 2 after 28 injections. The 2 that bruised were ones that bled. I think I probably hit a small blood vessel. They shouldn’t all bruise though. I will say that I found the Menopur went much better if I was patient. Initially I tried to inject gas to get it over with but in the end it was better to go slow. There is almost no burning if you inject it over 20-30 seconds. Maybe just try slowing down?

You hit a blood vessel. Even tough the fat layer does not have as many vessels as muscles there are some. When the vessel raptures the blood spills in surrounding tissue and the immune system cells migrate to clean the mess causing that bruising appearance. It will heal.

I think I took about 26injections over the course of my stims including gonal f and menopur and only had one noticeable bruise and I consider myself to bruise easy.
I’d say maybe try icing before hand and just going a little gentler perhaps?

Try icing. Also, bruising once is ok, but if you bruise everyday, you are probably doing it wrong.

I would also recommend icing the area first. I only had one bruise and was also my first injection, I was probably a little heavy handed. Once you know what to expect it's much easier. However if you continue to bruise contact your clinic. Good luck 😊
