Baby at times refusing formula
Hiya Mums
I’m wondering if anyone has an advice for how to get my son to take better to being fed formula.
I’m currently breastfeeding and supplementing with formula (giving a full bottle at night to fill him up to sleep 7-8 hours) but mainly breastfeeding.
I’ve been supplementing since he was a newborn only due to him being in special care. In the beginning he’d take a bottle no worries but I’ve noticed this last 3-4 weeks he’s been screaming at the bottle and work himself up until I give him boob (he’s 3 months old now)
I’ve been doing the sneaky and breast feeding him for a few minutes and then pull my boob out and put in the bottle and he will drink it fine but if I start with the bottle straight away he won’t take it.
I’m trying to get him more use to formula as I’m going back to work in 6 weeks and don’t want to suddenly stop BF and expect him to take formula at the drop of the hat.
I’ve tried a few different bottles and different formula and it’s the same reaction; although funnily he’ll take my breast milk in a bottle no trouble.
I’d love to express when I go back to work but that’s not really an option long term with my job. I also want to make it easier for hubby and other family members to give him a bottle with formula so it creates less issues in the future.
Sorry for the long post; but any suggestions on how to get him to take better to formula?
I’ve also tried distraction feeding (putting the tv on or having someone distracting him while he eats) but this doesn’t work either
TIA 😘
