Would you get a bunk bed for your 5 year old?

Question

My 5 year old girl recently discovered what a bunk bed is and really wants one. She wouldn’t be sharing it with anyone, our other child is newborn and has her own nursery. Except maybe if we have a too many people over and need more room besides the guest room, or when she starts kindergarten this year if she has sleepovers then it’ll be used. 
Mostly I’m just concerned about safety. Do your kids have one? Do they love it if its not being shared with someone full time?

I had bunk beds and they are alot of fun. I use to make the bottom bunk into a fort and it gave me my own space. BUT be prepared for when she gets older and wants to jump off the top bunk. 😆

You could also get one of those “bunk beds” that have like a desk or something underneath so you have space in the room -unless she wants both beds 😂 which I’m sure is a great possibility!

My cousins husband and his mom told me never to get her one cause he’s missing his front teeth bc of it. He’s been wearing 2 fake front teeth his entire life. He has a sister though close in age with whom he shared it with and I believe they were playing rough or something when it happened. Mine asked for one but every time I think about getting her one that comes to mind

My 4yo has one and has slept in it for a while now (maybe a couple of years). He used to sleep on the top bunk but now he likes the bottom. He's going to share his room with his 1yo brother so I'm hoping I can convince him to sleep up top again when lo is completely in the big boy room and out of my bed. Until then we have the top bunk mattress on the floor and the 1yo sleeps there for naps and starts there in the evenings.

My kids had bunk beds at 3 & 5 and loved them.

We had bunk bed when we were really young... I was still in preschool when we had them so that's about five or so. I don't recall any injuries (well, not bunk bed related at least). I absolutely loved them and will definitely get for my kid/s when we eventually had.
Just get a good quality one. Looking back we're actually pretty lucky there were no incidents considering the base of the beds we're made from chip wood.

When your newborn starts walking I would be worried about it TBH, that’s why our older boys can’t have one because the toddler would probably kill herself.

My cousin had a bunk bed growing up and we had so much fun playing all sorts of games. I can’t say I have knowledge of safety of bunk beds but don’t recall any of us getting hurt.

My son has a loft bed and loves it. Kinda like a bunk bed, just no bed on the bottom.
