Doctor giving wrong prediction?

Hey everyone, I’m just confused and need confirmation from those who ob’s were wrong on this topic. Does this happen more often?Thanks! 
At 12 weeks I had my 2nd ultrasound and had my prenatal screening blood drawn. 
Doctor checks baby and determines it’s a girl when my husband said jokingly “my boy looks strong.” Doctor right away stated “it’s a girl, I’m more than sure.” 
Well long story short.. I get a call from my screening and baby is 100% healthy and we’re having a boy after all. 
Now I’m trying to decide if this doctor is right for me.. I’ve had more concerns and this just adds to my list. From my cravings to my ultrasound pics everyone thought girl. Was this just an honest mistake?

Maybe the doctor was returning the joke to your husband. It’s a strange joke. It a lot of doctors have dry humor. Trust me, I work with them daily.

12 weeks is too early for gender. It needs to be at least 14 weeks and most places won’t confirm gender till after 16. My office won’t until at least 18 weeks.

Was there any tone of joking at all? He shouldnt be stating he's certain of the gender at 12 weeks, but maybe he was just poking at your husband because of what he said

Doctors also aren’t radiologists or techs. They know basic ultrasound techniques but didn’t go to school for it. Quite possible your doctor just really thought he was right. However, he shouldn’t have said he was sure. Especially at 12 freaking weeks! At my hospital the techs won’t even tell you unless they’re 99% sure they know the sex, and that’s at the 20 week scan.

Well with Technology it’s easy for them to find out I knew I was having a boy at 11 weeks Thur blood work at 12 weeks ultrasound confirmed it was a boy

It’s possible he was going by his experience at 12 weeks. My 12 week ultrasound the tech said girl based on the nub she saw and her years experience but told me she could be wrong and it wouldn’t be for sure until anatomy scan at 20 weeks. We are now definitely having a boy.

An ultrasound at 12 weeks would not be a very accurate guess of gender. However sometimes they are wrong much later. He shouldn’t have said he was sure though. With my boys, they were super obvious. There was no doubt they were boys but one was at 20 weeks and one at 16 weeks. This pregnancy the doctor told me girl from my 20 week ultrasound but I still didn’t believe it because I knew it could be wrong and really wanted a girl hHa so my OB checked and said “that for sure looks like a vagina”. Then I had a 3D scheduled anyways for pictures and had them check too.
