Yeast infection from collagen or cheating partner? TMI

First I just want to say I do have a doctor’s appointment set for Monday. I just have extreme anxiety and I would love any input for peace of mind.

I’m on Nuva Ring, I removed ring 3/2/21, FLO started 3/5/21 and ended 3/10/21. I did not reinsert the ring since I was out of town and could not get the prescription transferred.

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend (pull out method) when I got back on the 20th. I decided to just wait until after my next flo to reinsert the nuva ring as to not stress my body out too much. I’m already prone to BV for some reason so I try to be careful. However I also started taking some collagen peptides when I got back home, since I’ve heard good things about it.

The yeasty discharge started on the night of the the 21st. There’s no smell, and at first it was kinda dry/cottage cheese pieces. I messaged my OBGYN with my symptoms and she prescribed Metronidazole for 7 days. But then discharge became more lubricated and even more yeasty. I started taking the prescribed medicine on the 24th, but I messaged again with the new symptoms and she prescribed Fluconazole. I took the first dose on the 25th. So far there is no improvement aside from the vaginal opening not being *as* irritated.

I have continued taking the collagen because I didn’t think it was a factor at the time. Since then I’ve learned “collagen may cause an accumulation of oxalates.” Oxalates come from 3 main sources: food/drink (like spinach, which I eat a ton of), metabolic functioning, and “the elevated presence of funguses such candida albicans yeast.”

So the cause could be the collagen, being off of birth control, or the fact that I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. He has been unfaithful in the past but I don’t have any other reason to believe he has recently cheated. I just wanted to be transparent with all the possibilities. All thoughts welcomed!
