Yes unfortunately. My husband and I waited 15 years to have a baby. We got pregnant in October 2019. We celebrated during Christmas with family. Then never saw them again. We cancelled 3 baby showers, something I always wanted to experience and was excited for as I had hosted several and gone to many. And now my son is 8 months and he still hasn’t met 95% of the family. I’m so grateful for him and love every minute. But it’s not fair we got dealt this.

Oh yeah. No baby moon. No baby shower. No one at the hospital. No one met him. Couldn’t go anywhere. No newborn photos. I could go on and on.

This is my second, and while I do feel like I missed out on a lot of support for myself that would have made the pp time smoother, I don’t feel like I was robbed of anything with the baby. In fact, this has been an extraordinary time of bonding. With my first we did daycare, mom groups, play gyms, play dates, visitors all the time etc, but this time around it’s just my two kids and I hanging out in the yard all day. The easy intimacy and joy we have together is something I missed the first time when I was so busy. We like spending time together giggling and being silly, and I am really grateful for this time that forced us to slow down and enjoy each other.

The only thing I truly wanted that I didn’t get was my son being able to visit and meet his baby sister in the hospital. I had a longer stay and it was really hard going that long without seeing him.

I was on strict bedrest for the first 16 weeks due to heavy bleeding, not even allowed to sit up. I had a scan in the morning where the doctor gave me the all clear, said the bleedings stopped and i can go back to normal. That night covid hit us and we went into immediate lockdown - everywhere shut, we were put on curfew, not even allowed to leave our homes without written permission etc. This continued up until the final month of pregnancy. My family were unable to fly in as planned, and only my mum was able to come for 2 weeks (after quarantining in a facility here for a week) and meet my daughter. We tried for several years for this baby, did ivf and had miscarriages. Thanks to bedrest and the pandemic i hated every single second of what was supposed to be such a happy and exciting time for us. Although greatful i now have my daughter i do feel extremely robbed.

I really wanted my mom in the delivery room. She’s my best friend and it sucked she couldn’t be in their or be able to visit up in our three day hospital visit and now that he’s here most of my family hasn’t even met him yet

We were not able to do our babymoon last April like we had planned, so that sucked. It had been something I was looking forward to.
But by the time the babies were born, it was clear to us that covid wasn’t going anywhere. So we decided to take some extra precautions but we’ve continued to live our lives. We decided as a family that the extreme isolation some people have done is not a healthy option for us. Like with my first, the babies go where ever I go. They’ve been to stores, restaurants, parks, church, wherever. Anyone who has wanted to meet the babies has had opportunity to do so. 
Everyone needs to do what they feel is best for themselves and their families.

I found it much less stressful. No unsolicited advice, no millions of visitors interrupting routines, no intrusive questions about breastfeeding. So that was great the first 3 months. After that though, it has just been sad that he hasn't met anyone yet.

I hate being the center of attention so a baby shower seemed like zero fun to me. I did miss having my fam at the hospital but i was so sick the day after my csection from the meds (on top of learning to breasfeed) it worked out for the best. I really didnt want to see anyone but my husband and baby

No, kept everything as normal as before. Used a midwife and had a homebirth. Only thing I did different was not announce on social media but that wasn't due to covid
