Can I wear bonnets?

Hey everyone! So I’m a Latina and I have naturally curly hair but I barely started to figure out how to take care of it fairly recently . I googled what items I can use to protect them at night and a bonnet was one of them. I asked some of my friends if they had ever used one and they all said no because it’s only for black culture and for their hair types and they basically I can’t use it because I’m Latina. I was pretty confused because I thought it was just for curly hair in general but with this whole cancel culture thing going on I don’t want to make a wrong move. Can anyone help me out? Is it okay for me to wear a bonnet or not?
