Surgery or birth control?

Nicole

Hi ladies, so I was diagnosed with endo after having my 4th child. I believe I’ve had it for years but never was diagnosed till I got my tubes tied, dr also tried removing any scar tissue.

Fast forward to my next surgery, was suppose to get my right ovary removed due to a large cyst but she ended up just removing some scar tissue and a cyst on my left ovary and closing me up because my right ovary was attached to my colon. She placed me on the depo to help with the endo. ( just made everything worse, been on my period for 47 days now and still going)

Got second opinion, tried Orilissa for 7 days. The medication did not work, I had side effects and made my period worse and didn’t stop it. So I didn’t continue taking it.

Now we are at the point where I can continue birth control to help lessen the pain and discomfort I’m in, but I’m horrible at taking medicine and the depo is not working and just making things worse.

Or I can do surgery, remove all scar tissue they can, remove my uterus, right ovary and leave my left ovary. But my right ovary is tricky, the general doctor is going to help remove my ovary from my colon and if they cannot remove it, they will be taking a piece of my colon out. I may or may not have to use a temporary colostomy bag. They said it’s a 3 hrs surgery or more.

Should I even have them remove my uterus or just remove the right ovary and scar tissue?

I just need a little help. I’m so scared, nervous and just haven’t been able to find much people with the same situation I’m currently in. Thank you all in advance and sorry it’s so long of a story.

First, I am so sorry you are going through this. Personally I would try the birth control first. See if it helps. I put a reminder in my phone in case I forget to take my bc. If bc doesn’t work for you then I’d consider the surgery. Best of luck to you.

Thank you very much. I’ve been on BC and it made things so bad. I was on my period for almost 3 months straight. My pain was manageable. Now that I am not taking the BC I’m in more pain but my periods are a little over a week now. I am unfortunately having to do the surgery now. They are going to try and keep one of my ovaries if it’s not too damaged by the cyst I have also.
