When to worry about Learning disabilities

When to worry about a learning disability? My lo is 17 months I will update later on why I have concerns

It was about 2 years old that it changed from a simple “developmental delay” into an actual diagnoses “global developmental delay” for my older son, which is a recognised disability, rather than just slower development. I think for this he had to be delayed in two areas of development, which for him was clear, he was over two years before he started talking and at his 3rd birthday had a vocabulary of 6 words. In saying that though, such diagnosis don’t mean they’re life long. He’s now 3.5, and although he’s speech is still behind his peers he is suddenly talking in 3 word sentences and runs everywhere. Considering he couldn’t even get 6 words a few months ago.

You can be worried now. I’d say if theyre consistently not hitting multiple milestones I would personally be asking questions. I do think doctors tend to wait until 18-24 months to really get concerned on most things though. 
I would also keep in mind how your child has progressed. For example, my friends son hated tummy time and was late having much for core strength. He was also pretty late crawling which has now turned into the fact he still isn’t walking and he’s was born in the beginning of November 2019. So while yes, most of us would be concerned by no walking, it’s inline with his progress to this point, if that makes sense?
