Clomid wrong date?

Question

So my period was really off, I was spotting and then I didn’t see anything then again when I wiped. My Dr said any form of blood is considered a period. Well I started Clomid day 5 of the spotting and by day 7,8,9 I had a flow. So today is day 14 and I didn’t get a High OPK, I’m worried and sad because what if the 3 day of my flow was my actual period and I should have started the Clomid after. Maybe it’s a waste this month 😔

What the doctor told you is not correct. Spotting is not a period. The first day of the cycle is the one that you bleed through at least two pads and start seeing the tiny blood clotts. This is when the endometrium starts shedding and by cd 2 the fsh and estrogene start raising. Timing is crucial. The scope of Clomid is to trick the brain that estrogene is not released by follicles and they are not growing so more FSH is released to mature one or more follicles depending if you have PCOS or not. This must match the natural FSH raise starting 5th day latest as follicles grow the most up to cd10 to cd12. If you start Clomid cd 9 and take it to cd 15 you might not mature follicle if you have PCOS or mature only one if you do not have. My fertility clinic always said if your period comes before 10 am and you get full bleed this is day one. If your period arrive after 10 and not full bleed next day is day 1 or the day you get full bleed if you are a spotter. Some people spot for 5 days if low progesterone however FSH do not start raising until the lining starts shedding so no follicles are matured naturally.

It's OK to start Clomid on CD5. It's possible that your ovulation is just pushed out a bit.
