My husband’s grandfather’s name is Frederick and everyone calls him Ted. 
You can pick whatever nickname you want!

my dog’s name is thomas, i call him timmy tommy, Mr. Tibbles, Tibby. i never thought teddy for a nickname for thomas. that’s usually for Theo(dore) isn’t it? but you can make up any nickname for anyone. obviously my name isn’t really koala
